Kleines Theater
SINCE 1949 IN THE HEART OF GARMISCH
The Little Theater was founded in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 1949 by Fritz Rohrbeck and has had its permanent venue on Richard-Strauss-Platz since 1998. The theater hall in the heart of Garmisch's town center seats 110 people and is a stylish venue for over 100 performances a year. The stage repertoire ranges from comedies, classics and children's plays to experimental film theater and readings - with or without music. Play days are usually Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
The Kleines Theater is the only private theater in Germany whose fortunes have been managed by one family for three generations - exactly 75 years in 2024. Director Tatjana Pokorny, herself an actress, director and sought-after voice actress, and her husband Matthias Weckmann are leading the life's work of her grandparents and parents, directors Regina Rohrbeck and Rainer Pokorny, into the future with great passion and commitment.
