Michael Ende, born on November 12, 1929 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, was one of the most important German writers of the 20th century.
His imaginative works, including “The Neverending Story” and “Momo”, have inspired generations of readers worldwide. Michael Ende not only spent his childhood in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, but also important phases of his later life. His father, the painter Edgar Ende, also lived there, and the surroundings shaped the family's artistic work.
Today, the Michael Ende Spa Park commemorates the great storyteller. The park is a popular meeting place for locals and visitors alike and invites you to relax with its well-tended paths, beautiful flowerbeds and secluded corners. Its name honors Michael Ende's literary legacy and builds a bridge between the fairytale world of his stories and the natural beauty of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

In 2023, the book “Momo” by Michael Ende celebrated its 50th anniversary. The timeless story about the girl who defeats the time thieves also inspired the audience in the anniversary production. With numerous events and loving productions throughout the anniversary year, the message of friendship, mindfulness and the value of time was brought to life in a touching way.
