Nature Trail
Discover water: Short tour at Mount Wank
On this tour, on well-maintained hiking paths above Partenkirchen to St. Anton pilgrimage church, you will have a beautiful view of the mountain ranges of the Wetterstein and Zugspitze.
Your tour starts on Badgasse, which is a part of the historic centre of Partenkirchen. When you leave the underground parking area, turn right into the small alley, which will lead onto Ludwigstraße after a few metres. On the left hand side, you will see the Werdenfels museum, opposite to Maria Himmelfahrt parish church. Keep to the right before turning onto Ballengasse. You will see the famous façade paintings on the houses, which tell stories about the old traditions of the inhabitants. Cross the Florainsplatz (square) with its fountain where the cattle stop for a drink in the summer early in the mornings or in the late afternoons when they are on their way to or from the nearby stables. Now, turn right onto Prof.-Michael-Sachs-Straße. After a few metres you will reach the Wankweg, which will lead you uphill, past the last houses, in the direction of the Gamshütte Alpine hut. 10 minutes later, you will reach the wooden cross at the Josefsbichl. Turn left here on the path to St. Anton/Gaststätte Panorama. Walk past the restaurant. Directly at the downhill path to St. Anton pilgrimage church, a small stream invites you to rest and play. The way leads you back into town behind the church and turns right to an adventure playground. Walking along the stream you will pass a cold-water basin (according to Father Kneipp's Water Cure) and then walk onto Brunnhäuslweg and back onto Prof.-Michael-Sachs-Straße. This time turn right onto Sonnenbergstraße and follow this road until you turn left at the Schäfflerbrunnen (fountain) onto the historic Ludwigstraße. Now, there are just a few metres to go until you reach the Werdenfels Museum. Turn right to return to Badgasse and the underground parking area.
