Bike Riding
To Garmisch Hausberg Mountain
On a broad forest track, cycle up to Hausberg Mountain. This is an easy tour, but with some steep climbs. The way downhill also demands all your attention with a rapid, extremely steep and gravelly downhill track.
From the station you should go right. Next to the station building a pedestrian underpass leads you to Olympiastraße. Here you will go left and pass the Olympia-Eissport-Zentrum (Olympic ice sports centre), and then turn left again. Behind the parking site of the Alpspitz-Wellenbad swimming pool, a narrow path crosses the railway tracks. From here cycle to the right, pass the base terminal of the Hausbergbahn cable car and keep alongside the tracks in the direction of the Kreuzeckbahn cable car. 200 m before you reach the base terminal turn left and go uphill towards Aulealm. Shortly before the Aulealm, the broad forest track goes uphill to the right. On the forest track, which crosses the skiing slope now and then, you will steadily cycle uphill to the Hausberg. When passing the Garmischer Haus, go downhill to the Bayernhaus. From there, follow the narrow, sometimes extremely steep path down to the Kochelbergbahn cable car and to the parking site at the Hausbergbahn cable car. Depending on your individual skills and experience, you might want to get off your bike and walk it for some sections of the way between Bayernhaus and Kochelbergalm. From the Hausbergbahn parking site take the way that you came back to the station.
