You think that can only mean cross-country skiing? Or winter hiking? No? snowshoeing? Sure, you can do that too, but we have lots of other winter tips for you to enjoy the snow and ice off the slopes to the fullest!
SLEDDING
The last time you speeded down a slope on a sledge was as a little child? Then it's about time you indulge this winter fun again! Whether with your children or your best friends - a sledge ride is great fun for young and old. In Garmisch-Partenkirchen, you have the opportunity to bring out your inner child on the following three sledge runs, among others.
Tip: Sledges are available to hire from the local ski schools!

A sledding adventure for everyone: The Eckbauer Mountain
This sledge tour in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is possible without climbing any kind of steep ascent and is therefore really suitable for everyone, even if you're not overly fit! The Eckbauer gondola takes you comfortably up to 1,230 metres. Once at the top, you can enjoy the impressive view before heading back down to the valley from the mountain station via flat and steep sections along the slope. You'll definitely want to repeat this fun more often!
Tip: You can hire sledges and mini-bobs at the valley station!
BOB MUSEUM AT LAKE RIESSERSEE
- The museum exhibits 17 bobsleds from the period 1907 to 1997

ICE SKATING & CURLING
Do you like to go out on the ice during your holiday? Then Garmisch-Partenkirchen is the right place for you! Strap on your skates, take your little or big darlings by the hand and off you go - ice skating is a great holiday fun for the whole family!
The best way to do your pirouettes is on the well-maintained surface at the Olympic Ice Sports Centre. What else you can do there? Try your hand at the secret national sport of bavaria, curling! On request, this is also possible at the icehut at Kainzenbad or on the Riessersee and Pflegersee lakes, both subject to authorisation!

TORCHLIGHT WALKS
THROUGH THE PARTNACH GORGE
It's breathtaking how the gorge changes as dusk falls and the light changes every second. This is a very special spectacle. On the guided torchlight walkes, you can enjoy the light and shadows to the fullest. The light of the blazing torches is refracted in the mighty icicles and waterfalls that have frozen into glittering curtains, creating an unforgettable atmosphere.
ENDLESS WINTER FUN
And when you think it can't go on any longer ... another winter sport comes along somewhere! One thing is certain: getting bored during your winter holiday in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is almost a challenge.
After all, there are far too many possibilities in the snow-covered landscape around the Zugspitze to make the most of a day's holiday.
