Family walk to Tannenhütte at Mount Wank
A walk for the whole family on the slopes of Mount Wank. You will walk via St. Anton all the way up to Tannenhütte, while enjoying beautiful views of the Zugspitz mountain range and Partenkirchen.
The walk to Tannenhütte starts at the parking lot at the bottom of the cable car Wankbahn. You may first want to take a look at the large information board for orientation purposes. Right next to the board a forest path leads to an asphalt road. Follow this road uphill until you reach a junction, where you turn right to St. Anton. Watch out for free-roaming cows up to the next cattle bridge. After approximately 500 meters you will see an inn and the black onion towers of St. Anton. Above the church the tour continues through an impressive old pine forest towards Josefibichl. Keep left at the crossroads. After a good 600 meters mild ascent, the route takes you to the Kesselgraben waterfall. You will cross the waterfalls on a safe footbridge and then follow the reinforced steps up the mountain to the left. The trail then zigzags uphill all the way to Tannenhütte, a mountain hut, where you can stop for refreshments or a meal.
If you want to, you can return via Eckenhütte. The path leading further up the hill in front of Gamshütte will take you to Eckenhütte, which is not open to the public, within about 10 minutes. The path back to the valley to the left of the hut takes you through the pastures down to the base terminal of the cable car Wankbahn. Please follow the signs.
