Hiking route
Via St. Martin at Mount Grasberg to the “Königsstand” (Mount Kramer)
This trail is exactly right for you if you would like to turn a walk on the Kramer plateau into more of a sportive hiking tour. The mountain hut St.-Martin-Hütte offers one of the most beautiful views in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
Start at the Bayernhalle and turn in the direction of the Kramerplateau path. When you have reached the memorial church for soldiers, which is idyllically situated after your first climb, take the climb to the Grasberg/St.-Martin-hut (follow the signs) at the path junction. Now, follow the broad winding road to the hut. When you have passed the mountain inn, the path becomes smaller and runs through the forest and further on uphill. Follow the signs to Königsstand/Kramerspitz. In climbing the path you will pass the so-called Felsenkanzel. This is an iron balcony of sorts in the rockface that offers a fantastic view down and into the distance. Continue along the path on the south side of Kramer Mountain. The ridgeway to the Königsstand is marked (after the hut, do not follow the Kramergipfel/Kramerspitz signs any longer - only follow the sign Königsstand).
Return along the same route to the Bayernhalle.
