Mountain Hike
Via Stepbergalm to the summit of Mount Kramer (back via St.-Martin-Hütte)
The ascent to Mount Kramer is worth it, which is not only because of the stop at the Stepbergalm (Alpine hut).
From the Alpine hut at the Kramerplateau trail walk in the direction of the Herrgottschrofen (follow the signs) until you see the signs to the “Stepbergalm über gelbes Gwänd”. Turn right here. After a 2 hour 30 minute walk, which goes through a quiet valley and shady mountain forest, you will reach the peaceful Alpine hut (1,583 m). From here, a steep path and then a narrow trail lead to the summit at 1,985 m (2 h). During this part of the tour, you will have a great view over the Valley of the Loisach and the mountains of the Wetterstein- and Ammer. The quickest and most direct descent is on the same route. The following route on the mountain ridge of Mount Kramer is more beautiful, but longer as well. After the summit crucifix, a path leads you in the northern direction until you walk downhill via an extended rock and gravel field on the right hand side of the northern slope. You will then cross an idyllic saddle and pass the Kramersteig (a little bit of easy climbing is required here) until you reach the way between Königsstand and St.-Martin-Hütte. Then, you will reach the Kramerplateau trail. Keep to the right and hike the last part of the route back to the starting point at the Almhütte. The descent takes about 3 hours.
