Winter magic over the roofs of Garmisch-Partenkirchen - the Kramerplateauweg

This panoramic view trail starts at Grainau and leads along the slopes of Mount Kramer. You will walk along cleared winter hiking paths without any major ascents.

From the Unterer Dorfplatz in Grainau, walk along Eibseestraße until the way leads a short distance uphill to the Höhenrain. Shortly after the memorial church for soldiers in Grainau (Kriegergedächtniskirche, there is an intersection where you will turn right in the direction of the "Kramerplateauweg". Now, the path mostly winds evenly through meadows and along the edge of the forest. After approx. 2.5 km, the path starts to go downhill again. Here, the path forks. Take the narrow left path that will in turn lead you downhill to the small industrial area. Keep to the right and hike along Lagerhausstraße to its end. Turn left there and cross the railway tracks. Walk straight ahead until you reach the state road B2. Cross this road in order to reach the bridge over the Loisach River (Loisachbrücke) to the Herrgottschrofen (this part of the tour takes 1 hour). At the Herrgottschrofen (this is a niche in the rock with a group of figures), follow the uphill path to the left (follow the signs) to the Kramerplaeauweg. After a short ascent, this path nearly always remains on the same level until you reach the Almhütte (this part of the tour takes 1 hour). Walk past the Almhütte and the cold water basin to the foot of Mount Kramer until you reach the memorial chapel for soldiers (Kriegergedächtniskapelle) (this part of the tour takes 30 minutes). Follow the path past the most beautiful lookouts and numerous benches to the Pflegersee (Lake Pfleger) (this part of the tour takes 1 hour). Shortly before the Pflegersee (845 m), the path forks. Turn right onto the castle information trail to the Werdenfels ruin. Along this trail you will find interesting boards informing you about the history of the ruin. At the ruin, the descent to Burgrain starts. Board the local buses and the Eibsee bus to return to your starting point. To return to the station of the Deutsche Bahn, board the local bus.
